Security Practices to Protect Your Information
We restrict access to non-public information about you to those employees who need to know that information to provide products or services to you. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal standards to guard your non-public, personal information.
For customers and guests who visit our website at www.firstmichiganbank.com, we use a variety of advanced Internet security technology, including the encryption of information that is transmitted while accessing account information over the Internet.
Protect Your Accounts – Be An Informed Customer
Our Bank is committed to protecting the privacy of our customers. You can help by following these simple guidelines:
- Protect your account numbers, card numbers, personal identification numbers (PINs), and passwords. Never keep your PIN with your debit or credit card as it can provide access to your accounts if your card is lost or stolen.
- Use caution when disclosing your account numbers, social security numbers, etc., to other persons. If someone calls you claiming to be from the Bank and asks for your account number or PIN, you should beware. Official Bank staff will have access to your information and will not need to ask for it.
Your Privacy Option
You have the option whether we contact you regarding our products and services, as well as, how we use your credit and personal financial information among FMB affiliates. If you are comfortable with the methods in which we currently use your information, there is no need to indicate your preference. However, you may choose to opt-out. To change your privacy option:
- Write to us at 2301 W. Big Beaver Rd., Ste. 525, Troy, MI 48084. Requests must include your name, address, telephone number, and social security number (or taxpayer identification number). Incomplete information may delay or possibly prevent our ability to honor your request.
- Call a Customer Service Representative at 800.462.2786.
- Visit any Banking Center.
If you have a joint account, a request by one owner will apply to everyone on your account. The opt-out designation, if elected, applies to your current portfolio of accounts. Our system will be updated to reflect your privacy preferences within five business days following receipt of the request with complete information.
If you have already shared your privacy preferences with us under this policy, it is not necessary to contact us again. We will continue to honor the preferences you have indicated.
